Quintet Private Bank is an award-winning European private banking group operating across Belgium, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom through a network of respected heritage brands, including Brown Shipley, Merck Finck, Puilaetco and InsingerGilissen. With 1,650 people across more than 30 cities, their digital platform must reflect the quality and trust that high-net-worth clients expect, while giving regional teams the flexibility to manage content in their own language and market context. Growcreate migrated the entire multi-site estate from Kentico 13 to Umbraco CMS on Azure, eliminating licensing overhead, simplifying the architecture and delivering enterprise-grade security across all brands and regions.

Bottom line up front

  • Quintet operates a regulated, multi-brand, multi-language digital estate serving high-net-worth clients and regional content teams across Europe and the UK, where performance, security and brand consistency are non-negotiable.

  • Growcreate, as a Platinum Umbraco Partner, led the full migration from Kentico 13 to Umbraco CMS on Azure, consolidating a complex and costly infrastructure into a streamlined, scalable multi-site platform with zero downtime during migration.

  • The migration eliminated Kentico licensing fees, reduced infrastructure complexity and gave regional editors a single interface for managing multilingual content across all brands, significantly cutting administrative overhead.

  • The platform is now more secure, more efficient and far easier to maintain and evolve: a strong foundation that supports Quintet's ambitions as both their business and their digital estate continue to grow.

The challenge

Quintet's network of private banking brands each carry their own identity, language and regulatory context, yet all need to present a consistent standard of quality to clients who expect nothing less. Managing that across multiple sites on Kentico 13 had become increasingly costly and complex. Each hosting environment required its own duplicate services and database, creating unnecessary overhead and making the platform harder to maintain as the network grew. The annual Kentico licence added further cost without adding capability, and the architecture was accumulating technical debt that would only become more expensive to carry over time.

At the same time, the stakes for getting it wrong are high. Quintet's platform handles content across multiple regulated markets, requires secure access for regional editors in several countries, and serves clients whose expectations of digital experience are shaped by the quality of service they receive offline. Any migration had to be executed without disruption to those clients or to the regional teams who depend on the platform daily. The organisation needed a partner who could navigate that complexity confidently and deliver a cleaner, more capable solution on the other side.

Our approach

Platform migration and Umbraco architecture

As a Platinum Umbraco Partner, Growcreate assessed Quintet's existing Kentico estate and identified Umbraco as the right platform to meet their needs: open-source, enterprise-capable, and free from the recurring licence costs that were adding friction to Kentico's value proposition. We designed a multi-site architecture that could accommodate Quintet's full brand network from a single installation, giving regional editors a shared but configurable content environment that respects the linguistic, cultural and regulatory differences between markets.

The migration itself was planned and executed with continuity in mind. Content volume was significant and business operations could not be interrupted, so Growcreate managed the process carefully to achieve zero downtime throughout, protecting both the client experience and the editorial workflow. The result was a clean, simplified architecture that eliminated Kentico's dual-environment setup and removed the failure points and technical debt that came with it.

Azure hosting, security and DevOps

The new platform is hosted on Azure with three distinct environments: Development, Staging and Production, each configured for optimal performance and structured to support safe, reliable content deployment across the network. Growcreate implemented Azure Front Door firewall, advanced bot detection and DDoS protection, delivering a security posture appropriate for a regulated financial services environment serving high-net-worth clients across multiple jurisdictions.

Computational resources and database management were optimised across all regional sites, improving load balancing, reducing response times and making the platform genuinely more efficient to run. DevOps processes were introduced to make releases controlled and predictable, and ongoing support keeps the estate stable and well-maintained between development cycles. The infrastructure is now considerably easier to manage than what it replaced, with fewer moving parts and a clear path for future evolution.

Results and impact

For Quintet's regional teams, day-to-day content management is meaningfully better. Editors across Belgium, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK can now manage multilingual content and regional variations from a single interface, with updates that used to require significant administrative effort now handled quickly and confidently. Brand consistency is maintained across the network without removing the local autonomy each market needs to serve its clients well.

For the business, the financial case is clear. Kentico's licensing fees are gone, infrastructure costs have reduced and the simplified architecture means less time and resource spent on maintenance. The platform is now built on a foundation that scales cleanly: adding new brands, markets or capabilities does not require rebuilding what is already there. Growcreate continues to support, enhance and evolve the estate as Quintet's digital ambitions develop, providing the technical partnership that a network of this complexity and quality deserves.
