Some careers are built on safe bets. Jeroen Wijdeven’s was never one of them.
He started programming at 12, writing small games on a family PC. That curiosity grew into a career in consulting and software development, but it didn’t take long before he felt something was off. Too many agencies were chasing invoices instead of solving real problems. Jeroen wanted something different, so he made a bold move and founded Marvelous.
“I wanted to be closer to the challenges clients were really facing. To build trust. To do honest work, with real impact.”
Marvelous grew on that principle. Not by shouting the loudest, but by building a reputation rooted in trust. Jeroen calls it “social capital” — the kind of relationship equity that pays off when times get tough. It’s also the very thing that brought Marvelous and Growcreate together.
Back in 2014 at Umbraco’s Codegarden, Jeroen met our co-founder Theo. They swapped ideas, demos, and soon began collaborating on R&D projects. Over the years, that partnership deepened. When the moment came to scale, merging was the natural choice.
“Growcreate does business the way I like: grounded in honesty, but professional enough to keep money flowing. One plus one equals three — we fill each other’s gaps, and together we’re stronger.”
As CTO, Jeroen is clear about where his focus lies. Day-to-day operations are important, but they’re not his strength. His energy is set on the future — and on making another bold move.
“CMS and CRM systems are becoming commodities. The real opportunities lie in custom solutions that solve unique business challenges. That’s where we can make the difference — combining our technical depth with strategic consultancy.”
It’s a strong opinion in a market that often plays it safe, but that’s what leadership demands. Bold moves aren’t just about technology, though. They’re about culture.
“Trust and honesty have always been the anchor. That’s true at Marvelous, it’s true at Growcreate, and it’s what the next generation of clients and employees will expect.”
What excites him most about this new chapter is focus. With the right team around him, Jeroen has the freedom to do what he does best — explore, experiment, and accelerate growth.
From Codegarden in 2014 to CTO in 2025, Jeroen’s journey is proof that progress doesn’t come from safe bets. It comes from honest code and bold moves. And that’s exactly where Growcreate is headed.
