As part of a wider product development project for Stokers, a furniture retailer and Invessed, a wealth management Digital Experience Platform (DXP) solution, the R&D team developed a novel way to generate graphical files from a set of parameters, and at a scale that significantly reduces the cost required to produce such a volume of tiles.

Due to the absence of an off-the-shelf solution that would enable our team to deliver a scalable solution within the existing Cloud architecture, GrowCreate created a custom implementation to create files based on product or financial data . Product data - such as 3D models and textures - was used to batch-process thousands of photos for product variations. Financial data - such as investment valuations - was plotted in charting engines and delivered in PDF formats.

These graphical engines allow us to source data from diverse data sources and generate output in diverse formats and at scale. This mechanism fulfilled the requirement to import data from a number of different data sources including CRMs, financial systems, and other data repositories. After generation, graphics were delivered to e-commerce as well as secure, mobile-optimised financial environments.

Scientific or technological uncertainties

The advancements described above could not be achieved without resolving scientific/technological uncertainties. The main scientific/technological uncertainties that the company sought to overcome during this claim period are summarised below:

  • How to merge data stored from multiple and sources, locations and formats in a reliable way
  • How to generate diverse file formats, at scale, speed and cost-effective hardware requirements
  • How to ensure that graphical rendering takes place within a timeframe that does not disrupt the user experience

Eventually, the team was able to circumvent all the technological challenges to achieve a flexible and scalable data management solution for our Invessed platform.
